The Powerhouse Duo – Apple Watch Series 9 & Apple Watch Ultra 2

The highly anticipated launch of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 took place on September 12 at the Wonderlust event.

Alongside the new wearable smartwatches, Apple also unveiled the iPhone 15 series.

The latest Apple Watches come with significant upgrades compared to their predecessors, and have already become a hot topic among tech enthusiasts.

Design and Pricing

The design language of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 closely resembles that of the Apple Watch Series 8, which was released in September 2022. 

The devices are now available for purchase in India, starting from September 22.

The Apple Watch Series 9 is priced at Rs. 41,900 and is offered in Midnight, Pink, (Product) Red, Starlight, and Silver color options. It is available in both aluminum and stainless steel body finishes. 

The stainless steel variants, available in Gold, Graphite, and Silver, come in two sizes – 41mm and 45mm. 

The prices for these variants are Rs. 70,900 and Rs. 75,900, respectively. The aluminum finish 45mm display model is listed at Rs. 44,900.

In contrast, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is priced at Rs. 89,900 in India. It comes with Alpine Loop, Trail Loop, and Ocean band options. 

This means that the Apple Watch Series 9 can be purchased at a starting price of Rs. 39,400, while the Watch Ultra 2 can be bought at Rs. 86,900.

Specifications

The Apple Watch Series 9 is available in 41mm and 45mm display screen options. It is powered by the new Apple S9 SiP (system in package) with a second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip. The watch claims to be 60 percent faster than its predecessor, the Apple Watch Series 8.

One of the standout features of the Apple Watch Series 9 is the “Double Tap” functionality. 

This feature allows users to answer or end a call, stop a timer, snooze an alarm, control music, access the camera, and more by simply tapping their thumb and index finger together.

Running on watchOS 10, the Apple Watch Series 9 is also Apple’s first carbon-neutral product, reaffirming the company’s commitment to sustainability.

On the other hand, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 features a singular 49mm case and is powered by a custom S9 SiP chip. 

The watch boasts several improvements, including a battery life of up to 36 hours on regular use and up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode. It introduces a new Modular Ultra watch face and also runs on watchOS 10, with on-device Siri processing.
