Netflix, the popular streaming service, is preparing to provide a free mobile package in Kenya.
Users will not be needed to give any payment information throughout the sign-up process. According to TechCrunch, the new plan is available to anyone aged 18 or older who owns an Android phone.
Cathy Conk, Netflix’s Director of Product Innovation, stated in a blog post announcing the development, “If you’ve never watched Netflix before – and many Kenyans haven’t – this is an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with our service. And if you appreciate what you see, it’s simple to upgrade to one of our paid subscriptions to access our whole inventory on your TV or laptop.”
The free plan, which began on Monday, will be rolled out throughout Kenya over the next few days. The company does not specify how long it intends to keep this free tier available.
