Virender Sehwag, the cricketing legend, has joined India’s largest multilingual microblogging platform, Koo. His maiden Koo used the handle @VirenderSehwag to declare his entrance on the platform.

To a raucous response from platform users, Sehwag Kooed, “Toh Dillii and Chennai ne play-offs mein mari entry, toh humne bhi Koo ke stadium mein mar li hai entry.” He highlighted #DejaViru in his Koo, an online series in where he assesses ongoing IPL matches for his audience.

Sehwag’s arrival to Koo will provide users with the thrill of live action and match commentary in a variety of Indian languages. This is particularly pertinent in the run-up to the T20 World Cup 2021, which will begin in the UAE and Oman on October 17, 2021. Within hours of joining Koo, Sehwag, who is renowned for his clever retorts and offbeat observations on cricket and current events, received an outpouring of support from his followers!

A Koo representative said while welcoming Sehwag to the platform, “Cricket is more than a pastime for Indians; it is a passion they live and breathe. It is an expression that unites us all, regardless of our cultural or language differences. Similarly, Koo is a multilingual microblogging site dedicated to empowering Indians to communicate in their local languages. Virender Sehwag’s addition to the Koo App ahead of the T20 World Cup would infuse users and cricket lovers on Koo with excitement, as they will now be able to follow his opinions in their local languages and enjoy his take on the tournament through his wit and humour.”

Koo was launched in March 2020 as a platform for multilingual microblogging in Indian languages. Available in a variety of Indian languages, it enables people from various parts of India to communicate in their own speech. In a country where only 10% of the population speaks English, there is a critical need for a social media platform that can provide immersive language experiences and connect Indian people. Koo gives a platform for the voices of Indians who prefer to communicate in their native tongues.
