India vs England : Wicket is in excellent enough shape to chase any score

England pacer Chris Woakes believes the Oval surface is still battable and believes his team is in with a chance of chasing down 291 runs on the last day of the ongoing fourth Test against India.

England have been set a target of 368 in the fourth Test of the five-match series, and the hosts lead by ten wickets heading into the final day of an enthralling Test match.

“We believed that the wicket was suitable for chasing any score. To pursue that score all the way would be a tremendous effort. It would be an incredible pursuit. However, our openers have performed admirably and have put us in an excellent position to begin on the final day. Getting another 291 on a day-five pitch is always a difficult goal, but we have to remember ourselves that this pitch is still conducive to batting and that we can accomplish it if we bat well all the way down “Woakes stated during a televised news conference.

“We simply have to tick it off gradually. We will not get ahead of ourselves. According to what I’ve heard, it’ll be a packed house here at The Oval, which means the atmosphere will be fantastic. That is the position you want to be in as a player. I watched the first three Tests of this series at home and yearned to be a part of it, so I’m overjoyed to be here and hoping we have a chance to win “he continued.

Additionally, when discussing the chase, the seamer who took three wickets in the second innings stated: “You are aware that each chase is unique. You need people to come in and form large partnerships, which puts pressure on the opposition from a bowling standpoint. We’ve been in this situation numerous times as a side, and bowling puts you under pressure to take wickets. Each run erodes the opposition. The longer you can keep guys together and form a partnership, the more tough it will be for the opposition.”

“This team has accomplished some remarkable feats in a variety of formats over the last few years. These are the moments in which you want to be a part. We’re attempting to accomplish something unique. It’s an excellent location. There is still more hard work to be done, but you can draw on your previous experiences. You may look back on our accomplishments and see what we are capable of as a team. Oftentimes, it’s simply a matter of thinking you’re capable of doing something and then going out and doing it. Everyone will agree that we can continue and obtain the runs; there will be no doubt about it “he continued.

England were 77/0 at stumps on Day 4, still needing 291 runs to win with all ten wickets in hand. Burns (31) and Hameed (43) are at the crease for the hosts.

Earlier in the day, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, and Shardul Thakur all scored over 50 as India set England a total of 368 on Day 4 of the current fourth Test at the Kennington Oval. Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah also made cameo appearances of 25 and 24 runs respectively as India recorded a 466-run second innings total, extending their lead to 367. Woakes returned with three wickets for England.
