Nurislam Sanayev bites Ravi Dahiya during semi-final clash

Ravi Dahiya stormed into the finals of the men’s freestyle 57kg event at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, but the Indian grappler had to endure an unsportsmanlike attitude from his semi-final opponent.

Dahiya was trailing 5-9 in the final minute of the game when Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev was seen biting the Indian on the arm after the Indian grappler pinned him down.

Virender Sehwag, a former India batsman, took note of this moment and went on to call Sanayev’s behaviour “disgraceful.”

“How unfair is this, couldn’t hit our #RaviDahiya’s spirit, so bit his hand. Disgraceful Kazakh loser Nurislam Sanayev. Ghazab Ravi, bahut seena chaunda kiya aapne #Wrestling,” tweeted Sehwag.

Dahiya defeated Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev in the semi-finals and will now compete in Thursday’s finals. He is the first Indian to reach the final since Sushil Kumar in 2012.

Ravi Dahiya took a 2-1 lead in the first period, and Sanayev faced complete pressure in the second period, but he responded strongly and quickly erased Dahiya’s lead. Dahiya, on the other hand, held his own and won by fall.
