In the tumultuous political scenario in Maharashtra, a new conflict is such amongst the Opposition bloc INDIA on account of recent meetings between National Congress Party’s veteran Sharad Pawar and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Sharad Pawar’s rendezvous with his nephew Ajit Pawar has created ripples in the political atmosphere of Maharashtra, causing unease with key ally Shiv Sena.
Despite Pawar’s assurance of not collaborating with BJP, the recent events have displeased the Opposition.
Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena leader, Sanjay Raut, spoke on this issue, questioning the rationale behind the dispute amongst their subsequent followers due to these meetings.
He suggested that in the context of workers’ battles, it was inappropriate for leaders to converse with those from opposing parties. The remark signaled Shiv Sena’s discontentment, hinting at a possible brewing disharmony within the opposition.
Raut lauded Mr. Pawar as the “Bhishma Pitamaha” of Maharashtra politics, implying his profound role and influence in the prevailing political affairs. Despite the complement, the underlying message proposed was quite clear. “Leaders with such stature should abstain from actions that may sow doubt within the public mind.”
The periodicity of these meetings between the Pawars has aroused suspicion. Some see it as a strategic political maneuver by BJP’s ‘Chanakya’ to sow confusion within the opposition.
Despite the alleged political turmoil, Sharad Pawar asserted that his and Ajit Pawar’s meetings were merely familial. He firmly declared the NCP’s stance of not aligning with BJP. Moreover, he clarified amid the ongoing political whirlwind, “He is my nephew. What’s wrong with a family meeting?”
In a shocking turn of events, Ajit Pawar, along with eight other MLAs, deserted the NCP to join the Eknath Shinde-led government last month. This fallout has led to Sharad Pawar’s ongoing struggle to sustain the party’s control, translating into a tumultuous scenario in Maharashtra politics.
