In a stirring response post his suspension, Raghav Chadha, Rajya Sabha MP of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), voices his discontent to the BJP-led government’s move, accusing them of silencing political opposition. “Namaskar, I am suspended Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha,” he begins.
Raghav Chadha posed critical questions in parliament to the leaders of the biggest political party – the BJP. An intriguing question he asks – is his crime related to showing BJP their old manifesto where they demanded statehood for Delhi, and urging them to fulfill their promises?
The AAP leader says he received two privilege notices this week alone. He further notes that besides him, his party colleagues Sanjay Singh and Sushil Kumar Rinku were also suspended during the same monsoon session.
Drawing attention towards leading opposition figure Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s suspension, Chandha comments, “It must be a first in India’s history that the Lok Sabha leader of the opposition party with the most MPs had been suspended.”
Clarifying the Forgery Allegation
Mr. Chadha clarifies that he did not forge or use any MP’s signatures. His actions only included the nomination of some MPs for a parliamentary committee, which he stated does not require their signatures or written consent. The MPs had the authority to refuse participation and withdraw their names.
Mr. Chadha affirms that these challenges won’t deter him. “The allegation is just a way for them to throw mud at me and tarnish my reputation. But I will remain undaunted,” remaining committed to his principles even in the face of adversity.
Lastly, it’s noteworthy that the Rajya Sabha suspended him today for “breach of privilege” claimed by four MPs that allege violation when he nominated them in a House panel without their consent.
