In the four weeks of fighting in Ukraine, NATO believed that 7,000 to 15,000 Russian soldiers had been killed. The Russian figure did not appear to include the Moscow-backed separatists fighting in eastern Ukraine, and it was unclear whether other Russian forces, such as the National Guard, were included.

According to the deputy chief of Russia’s military general staff, 1,351 Russian soldiers killed in Ukraine.

According to local police, the explosion of a theatre in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol last week may have killed as many as 300 people. “According to eyewitnesses, around 300 people killed in Mariupol’s Drama Theatre as a result of Russian aircraft strikes,” the statement reads.
