According to one report, overloading could have been a factor in the plane crash in Tatarstan

One of the likely causes of the L-410 plane’s accident in Russia’s Tatarstan was overcrowding, a person close to the aircraft’s owner, the Voluntary Society for Assistance to the Russian Army, Air Force, and Navy (DOSAAF), told Sputnik on Sunday.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning, just after the aircraft departed Menzelinsk. According to the latest data from the Russian health ministry, the tragedy claimed 16 lives and left six others hospitalised.

“One likely cause of the disaster was the plane being overloaded — the plane is designed for 19 passengers, and as a result, the aircraft lacked the takeoff power to ascend,” the insider said.
