Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, is making a comeback to Android tablets with the 11-inch Pad 5.
According to The Verge, Xiaomi recently revealed the Xiaomi Pad 5, following the company’s 2018 debut of the 8-inch Mi Pad 4.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 is an 11-inch tablet with a WQHD+ 120Hz display, quad speakers, 6GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 860 engine, which is a speed-upped version of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 processor from 2019.
The tablet features a rear camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels and a front camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels.
According to The Verge, the new device resembles an iPad Pro. To accommodate tablet-specific MIUI customizations such as the applications dock, it features narrow bezels and flat corners. “The build quality isn’t quite as robust, and the screen isn’t nearly flush with the chassis, but the inspiration is evident,” The Verge reports.
Both the screen and speaker on the device are of high quality.
Abi Go, Xiaomi’s product marketing head, told The Verge that the firm views the Pad 5 as a “portable workstation” in addition to an entertainment device, and that certain markets will have stylus and keyboard accessories.
According to reports, the tablet will cost Euro 349 (USD 413) for the 128GB version and Euro 399 (USD 472) for the 256GB version.
Xiaomi has not yet confirmed a particular debut date for the Pad 5, but has hinted that it would differ by location, according to The Verge.
