Over 75 Taliban terrorists, including three members of their military commission, were killed in airstrikes and ground operations conducted by Afghan security forces in Helmand over the last 24 hours, according to Afghanistan’s deputy defence minister’s spokesperson Fawad Aman.
During the operations, at least 22 terrorists were wounded.
“77 Taliban terrorists, including three members of their military commission, were killed and 22 others wounded in the last 24 hours on the outskirts of Lashkargah, Helmand province’s capital, as a result of airstrikes and ANA ground operations. Helmand continues to be a hotbed of terrorist activity “Aman continued.
Earlier this month, the Afghan Defense Ministry announced that the US carried out an aerial attack on Helmand’s Lashkargah city, killing at least 40 Taliban terrorists.
This follows the withdrawal of foreign forces from the war-torn country. In several Afghan cities, fierce clashes are taking place between Afghan forces and the Taliban.
The Taliban have captured several districts in Afghanistan in recent weeks, including Takhar, the country’s northeastern province.
According to the Long War Journal, the Taliban control 223 districts nationwide, with 116 contested and the government holding 68, according to CNN’s estimates. According to the report, the Taliban directly threaten 17 of 34 provincial capitals.
