Hyundai Motor launched Avante N with ‘280 HP like a sports car’

Hyundai N , Avante N, also known as ELANTRA N

The high-performance brand N of Hyundai Motor unveiled Korea’s first high-performance sedan. On July 14, Hyundai Motor’s high-performance brand N debuted ‘Avante N’ and its Digital World Premier video online for the first time.

Avante (Elantra) N is the high-performance variant of the all-new Avante (also known as Elantra), which debuted last April.

Avante N is equipped with a 2.0T flat-power engine and an eight-speed N Wet DCT (Double-clutch) transmission. The engine produces 280 HP(ps) and 40 kgf.m of torque. N Grin Shift (NGS) is capable of temporarily increasing power output to 290 HP.

The top speed is 250km/h, making it the fastest of the N line-ups. It accelerates from a standstill to 100km/h in just 5.3 seconds.

Hyundai Motor explained that it used IDA (Integrated Drive Axle) for the first time in the N series on the Avante N, reducing weight by 1.73 kg per unit by integrating wheel joints and hubs, and improving vehicle handling performance.

For the first time, it used a dual compound insulator in the front wheel suspension of Hyundai Motor vehicles to ensure agile handling and driving comfort. Additionally, it features rack-mounted motor-driven power steering (R-MDPS).

N sound equaliser features an equaliser function that allows for fine-tuning by sound range as well as TCR racing car sound to enhance the driving experience.

Additionally, Hyundai Motor reduced the time required to reactivate the N Grin Shift (NGS) to 40 seconds. Avante N can also store two custom driving modes that the driver selects from seven categories, including engine, steering, suspension, and exhaust sound, and assigns them to two N buttons mounted on the steering wheel.

The driver can monitor high-performance specialised information such as cooling water temperature, torque, and turbo pressure via the cluster (instrument panel).

Additionally, it includes a ‘lap timer’ that records the time required to complete a lap of a race track and a ‘N track map’ that tracks the driver’s position and movement around the circuit.

Hyundai Motor launched the ‘Hyundai N Application’ with the Avente N, allowing users to easily access the Avante N’s high-performance infotainment functions via their personal smartphones. The application also includes analysis functions based on RPM (revolutions per minute), output (torque), and lap time.

The premiere video, which was released on this day, featured the storey of a boy who dreamed about the car, as well as approximately 40 performance enhancements made to the Avante N.

Additionally, the video implied participation in an endurance race with its electric racing car, which is a hybrid of a fuel cell and a battery electric vehicle (BEV).

Avante N is priced at 32.12 million won (3.5 percent special consumption tax) in MT trim and 33.99 million won in DCT trim.
