Netflix starts selling merchandise

Netflix, a major player in the video streaming space, has decided to enter the e-commerce space with its own store dedicated to merchandise from its original series such as ‘Stranger Things.’ According to The Verge, the online store, which will be accessible via, will initially be available only in the United States and will feature merchandise and apparel inspired by popular Netflix original series. On a regular basis, the online store will sell limited-edition exclusives of “carefully selected, high-quality apparel and lifestyle products” tied to Netflix’s shows and brand.

If you visit the Netflix e-store right now, you’ll notice designs inspired by popular anime series like Yasuke and Eden. The online store will debut products based on ‘Yasuke’ and ‘Eden’ this month, as well as limited-edition apparel and decorative items inspired by the French thriller series ‘Lupin’ in collaboration with the Musee du Louvre.

The store has launched an anime-inspired collectibles collection from three emerging designers, including Nathalie Nguyen, Kristopher Kites, and Jordan Bentley. For those who are curious, according to Mashable, Netflix currently has licencing agreements in place for hundreds of products based on its original programming that are sold by Amazon, H&M, Sephora, and other retailers. The company is expected to list merchandise based on ‘The Witcher’ and ‘Stranger Things,’ two original series that have a global following.

The e-commerce site was developed and launched by Netflix in collaboration with Shopify. The shopping site will launch in the United States first, before expanding to other countries in the coming months. It will compete with companies such as Disney, which already has an online store and an e-store.
