Delhi Police launches a look-out notice for wrestler Sushil Kumar

The Delhi Police have issued a Look-out Circular (LoC) for two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, who is believed to be absconding following the death of Sagar Rana, 23, during a street fight in the Chhatrasal Stadium parking lot.

Following the incident, a murder, kidnapping, or conspiracy to commit the crime of murder, was filed against Kumar. According to police, the victims’ statements also allege that Kumar and his associates kidnapped Sagar from his Model Town home to teach him a lesson for badmouthing him in front of other wrestlers.

Sagar Rana, who competed in the 97-kg Greco-Roman category, was beaten to death on Tuesday during a clash between two groups. Rana is a former junior national champion and is currently enrolled in the senior national training camp. “We discovered during our investigation that a quarrel occurred between Sushil Kumar, Ajay, Prince Dalal, Sonu, Sagar, and Amit and others in the stadium’s parking lot,” Sidhu said.

Police interviewed all of the victims and learned that Sagar and several of his friends, including the injured Sonu Mahal, a close associate of gangster Kala Jathedi, were staying in a house connected to Sushil near the stadium. “They had been asked to vacate the premises recently and were forcibly removed from the premises. Sushil later discovered that Sagar had begun disparaging him in front of other wrestlers at the Chhatrasal Stadium and had also threatened him with dire consequences,” a senior police officer said.

According to police, they discovered a recorded video of the incident on accused Prince Dalal’s mobile phone, in which the faces of all the attackers can be seen. “Dalal was apprehended on the spot, and we seized his cellphone, two double barrel guns, and seven live 12-bore cartridges. We discovered that the firearms were registered in the name of a resident of Ashoda village in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, police sources said.
